Why a Puppet + Carahsoft Partnership Matters for U.S. Government

Since its founding, Puppet has been a trusted partner of the U.S. government, and is used by the largest branches of the U.S. Military. Puppet Enterprise enables Department of Defense (DoD) agencies to automate and enforce compliance with configuration standards, and security and privacy controls.

We’ve seen a number of federal agencies leverage Puppet Enterprise and its suite of technologies to deploy new applications rapidly while being assured of maintaining infrastructure integrity and availability. With this relationship, we continue to establish a deep commitment to the government’s mission and its understanding of the importance of DevSecOps in maintaining an agile posture.

For those federal and state agencies, this relationship with Carahsoft and our listing on the GSA offers those government agencies dependent on GSA the ability to utilize Puppet Enterprise to meet their critical government standards.

How Puppet Enterprise Helps the U.S. Government

Together with Puppet, government agencies can rapidly implement intelligent automation for continuous compliance, orchestration, monitoring, and remediation. Puppet Enterprise adds powerful capabilities such as FIPS 140-2 certification, reporting and compliance, role-based access control, extended platform support, orchestration and workflow, code management and enterprise support.

Additionally, DoD agencies can achieve rapid and continuous compliance with DISA STIGs and NIST SP 800-53 by automating configuration management and enforcing state as often as needed, up to every thirty minutes. Using Puppet automation, agencies can automate repetitive tasks, quickly deploy critical applications, proactively manage infrastructure across all major operating systems, on-prem or across hybrid cloud platforms.

For agencies that want a fast start or to scale their transformation initiatives, Puppet delivers the most comprehensive feature set, and with more ways to access it thanks to the listing on the GSA. Puppet continues to be the leader in helping government agencies standardize on the intelligent compliance that defense, intelligence, and civilian agencies require to meet mission goals.

Puppet Enterprise provides a holistic view of compliance status with scanning and reporting, and automatically puts systems into their compliant, desired state when a change is detected. Agencies are able to enforce security policies, define the desired state, and automatically monitor changes against that baseline every 30 minutes with Puppet Enterprise. Using self-enforcing policy as code, Puppet Enterprise helps efficiently bring new and existing compute resources into compliance, quickly update them as policies change, and easily demonstrate compliance to auditors. Agency DevSecOps teams can model any security-compliant IT environment—on-premises or in the cloud—then run apps in that simulated environment in an automated fashion.
